Mary Inga Brown Robertson '63
Mary Inga Brown Robertson (Age 76), transitioned September 2nd peacefully at her home in Gainesville, VA. She was born on June 13, 1945 in Petersburg, VA but spent her childhood in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia with her family.
She attended St. Margaret's boarding school in Tappahannock, VA where she developed lifelong friendships and a dedication to the Episcopal Church. She received her BA degree from the Beirut College of Woman in Lebanon and her Masters of Education from the Virginia Polytechnic Institute in 1974. Mary was a devoted Episcopalian who also received her education for ministry in Theology. While she raised three children, she provided unwavering support for her husband's personal businesses.
Mary retired from the Fairfax County Government in the Taxation Department and she was an avid volunteer. She assisted at the INOVA Fairfax Hospital, taught as a Homebound Teacher to terminally ill children and was part of the churches vestry, alter guild and bible school. She was predeceased by her husband Robert in May 2020. Mary was the loving mother to Jennifer Myers (Steven), Catherine Robertson (Rick) and Matthew Robertson (Michelle), cherished grandmother of Ryan Ashley and Margaret Grace. She was survived by her sister, Holly B. Murphy, sisters-in-law, Patricia Brown and Brenda Hammer (Delbert) as well as several nieces and nephews. She will be eternally missed by those who loved her. A service will be held on Sunday, September 12 at 12 p.m. at the Trinity Episcopal Church, 9325 West Street, Manassas, VA 20110.
A celebration of life will be held after the service. Contributions in her memory may be made to the St. Margaret's school in Tappahannock
