REUNION 2025
Alumnae Weekend May 2-4, 2025 at St. Margaret’s School
Alumnae Weekend at St. Margaret’s School is a time-honored tradition that brings generations of alumnae back to campus to celebrate the bonds of sisterhood, reflect on cherished memories, and create new ones. From heartfelt reunions to meaningful ceremonies, the weekend offers a rich blend of tradition, camaraderie, and celebration along the banks of the Rappahannock.
Except for Saturday’s Alumnae Luncheon and Saturday’s Alumnae Dinner, all events and receptions are complimentary for alumnae and their guests, including housing in A House for the weekend.
The festivities begin on Friday, May 2, with Reunion Registration at B-House, followed by an elegant Golden Thistle Dinner for the Class of 1975, commemorating their 50th reunion location TBD. Meanwhile, all other alumnae will gather for a welcoming dinner, sharing stories over a buffet and refreshments at B-House. As dusk falls, the Lantern Ceremony on the River Lawn will offer a moment of quiet reflection as alumnae light lanterns symbolizing the enduring spirit of the Sisterhood.
Saturday, May 3, begins with a breakfast with Former and Current Faculty at the B-House, a perfect opportunity to reconnect with the mentors who shaped their journey. Against the backdrop of the Crew Exhibition, alumnae will enjoy a glimpse into the school’s thriving rowing program. Later, the Head of School, Colley Bell, and the Senior Student Leaders will share insights about the school’s present and future in the Woolfolk Center. The afternoon’s Spring Annual Meeting and Luncheon will feature a tribute to beloved faculty members Shannon Spears, Louise Velletri, and ViAnn Farmer, the Alumnae Association Board Election, and the Golden Thistle Induction Ceremony in the CTC. The day continues with class photos, afternoon leisure by the waterfront and pool, and an exciting Derby Party at the CTC Riverfront in the evening. At the Alumnae Dinner, everyone will enjoy classic Southern fare, festive cocktails, and a Kentucky Derby screening while the school’s MayBall tradition unfolds, with seniors making their grand presentation under the tent on the River Lawn.
On the final day, Sunday, May 4, the morning offers a continental breakfast in the B-House and a serene yoga session on the River Lawn, led by Margaret Moncure ‘04. The community will then gather in the SMS Chapel for the Senior Charms Chapel and Alumnae Memorial Service, honoring those who have left a lasting imprint on St. Margaret’s. The weekend concludes with a Closing Lunch on the River Lawn, followed by the Crew Alumnae Reunion, where former rowers and coxswains can return to the water alongside Coach Howell.
As the weekend dra a close, alumnae will depart with renewed friendships, a deeper appreciation for their shared history, and the unwavering knowledge that St. Margaret’s will always be home.
Let us pray
Almighty and everlasting God,
We give you thanks to the alumnae of St. Margaret's School for their time spent learning and living by the noble Rappahannock River, a symbol of your enduring flow of grace. Bless these women who have walked these halls and now extend their hands to support this community. Enrich their lives with your wisdom and peace so they might continue to reflect your love in all they do.
In your mercy, remember those classmates who have departed this life. We entrust them to your eternal love, confident in the promise of resurrection and life everlasting. May they rest in peace and rise in glory, abiding forever in the grace of God.
As we gather around these tables, bless us and the food we are about to receive. Let us remember the words taught to us: “As we grow in age, may we grow in grace.”
Strengthen us in body and soul, and unite us in fellowship, that we may always have cause to give thanks to You.
Through Jesus Christ our Lord, amen.
