Mr. Marshall Lloyd
Mr. Lloyd is our senior faculty memeber having served the St. Margeret's community for 43 years and is in his 45th year of teaching Latin. Mr. Lloyd has a passion both for the classics and for his students as he encourages each student to make a personal connection with the class and the Latin language. Mr. Lloyd comes from a large family of classicist ranging back several generations and spent a year in Italy during the 4th grade and numerous summers attending Vergilian Society sessions during his youth.
Mr. Lloyd received his B.A. in Classics from The College of William and Mary in Virginia, an M.A. in Classics with distinction from the University of Georgia, and an M.A.L.S. (Liberal Studies) from Mary Washington College, where he recieved the award as the top Graduate student in the program and the best final project "Polybius and the Founding Fathers: Separtation of Powers." Mr. Lloyd also serves as Adjunct Faculty for Rappahannock Community College allowing him to offer Dual Enrollment credit to upper level Latin Students. An early adopter of technology, Mr. Lloyd enjoys programming and creating dynamic web pages for Latin students to practice the principals of the language. His literature pages are used daily.
In addition to his teaching responsibilities, Mr. Lloyd is class sponsor for the 9th grade and this year will also teach Mythology, a new elective for this year. In the community, Mr. Lloyd is Jr. Past President of the Tappahannock-Warsaw Moose lodge, where he has served on the board of officers for 9 years, is Chairman of the Scholarship Committee, Secretary for the Charitable Giving Committee, Chaplain for District 3 and now President of the Council of Higher Degrees for Eastern Virginia.
