Honor Code

“Do that which is right, and avoid that which is wrong.”

On my honor, I will not lie, cheat, or steal. In addition, I will take responsibility for those in our community who do so.

At St. Margaret's, integral to our holistic approach to education and our identity as a church school, we hold the conviction that learning to coexist with others under an honor code is essential for every student. This Honor Code mandates that students behave responsibly, eschewing lying, cheating, and stealing while also setting a positive example and offering encouragement to their peers. In a solemn ceremony held in the Chapel at the academic year's outset, each student pledges her commitment to honorable conduct within our community by signing the Honor Book—a gesture reinforced by the supportive presence of fellow community members. The Honor Council, which consists of five student representatives elected by their peers and two faculty sponsors, plays a pivotal role in educating about and upholding the Honor Code throughout the year and one’s life.
