Tappahannock, VA (May 1, 2001) - Mary Burke Parker of Tappahannock was a key factor in St. Margaret's April 24 triumph at home over St. Gertrude's School of Richmond. The junior power hitter scored 2 RBIs and knocked one out of the park in the bottom of the seventh inning to clinch the SMS win, 7-6. Until they tangled with the Scotties, the Gators had been the only undefeated softball team in the League of Independent Schools. St. Margaret's finished the week 6-2 in the LIS (7-3 overall) after defeating Blessed Sacrament-Huguenot and St. Anne's-Belfield by 10- and 12-point margins, respectively.
